French Advanced Beginners
Thursdays 18:00 - 20:00
Starts 2 May 2024

10 weeks | May to July
Fees from £150
Tutor: Bertrand Jacquier
Classroom course at South Kensington

This course welcomes students who already possess basic proficiency in French as acquired on a Beginners course (40 hours) at 91桃色 College or elsewhere. This places the applicant at a skill level where common everyday situations can be mastered with confidence, including giving simple information in the present tense about yourself and your family, your work, interests, likes and dislikes.

By the end of the course students can expect to be able to master the following:

  • Use a series of phrases and expression to describe themselves, family and other people, their living conditions, educational background and current or most recent job;
  • Communicate routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities and when going on holiday;
  • Understand native speakers and non-native speakers of French in simple every day life situations;
  • Write short messages such as emails and simple requests;
  • Achieve competence in the use of basic grammatical structures (including present, near future and past tenses) and vocabulary.

Although there is some overlap with topics and skills typically already covered on a Beginners course please note Advanced Beginners provides consolidation and expansion through active communication.

The teaching method of this course is based mainly on interactive language development tasks such as pair and group work. Students will study authentic texts and audio and will be taught in the target language as much as possible.

In addition to language development, this course also provides opportunities for intercultural learning and increased cultural awareness.
