New campus-based Property Facilities Management service

Our new campus-based Property Facilities Management service was implemented on 5 May 2026, replacing the previous building-by-building approach. The new property facilities management service is split across two operational groups; 

  1. South Kensington
  2. White City, Medical Campuses and Silwood. 

The new Property Management model and roles align responsibilities to six service areas:

  1. Facilities and daily operation
  2. Reactive and planned works
  3. Continuous improvement works and small-scale enhancements
  4. Moves and space readiness
  5. Compliance, safety and resilience
  6. Security and Community Safety 

The new roles are:

Deputy Directors of Campus

Deputy Director roles have been introduced for each of the two Operational Property Groups. These roles provide day-to-day operational leadership, ensure consistent service delivery, oversee local issues and risks, and act as the primary point of escalation for faculties and departments.

Property Facilities Managers (PFMs) and Assistant Facilities Managers (AFMs)

These roles represent a shift from the Building Manager and Assistant Building Manager roles to a clearer division of management (PFM) and coordination (AFM) responsibilities, reducing ambiguity, lowering administrative burden and strengthening accountability for day-to-day service delivery.

  • Property Facilities Managers (PFMs) lead Property Management activity across defined building portfolios. They oversee day-to-day operations, building readiness and coordination with Maintenance and Security. They engage with our community and manage Assistant Facilities Managers, Property Champions and Workplace Hosts (where applicable). 
  • Assistant Facilities Managers (AFMs) support Property Facilities Managers with daily operational tasks including building checks, contractor coordination, readiness activities, following up on works, and dealing with straightforward issues before they escalate. AFMs provide structured operational support for PFMs and hold coordination accountability
Customer Service Managers (CSMs)

Customer Service Managers will act as the key coordination point for customer experience, Computer-Aided Facility Management workflow and Property Champion activity, ensuring that customer enquiries, service requests and operational information are managed consistently across the campus. Customer Service Managers oversee the handling of enquiries, service requests, and communication for each campus group. They maintain a coordinated front door and ensure timely follow-up on issues.

Property Champions

Property Champions provide a visible, front-of-house presence across campus. They focus on proactive engagement with users, regular floor-walking, early issue detection, and first-line triage of operational concerns. Property Champions also provide administrative support, such as communicating information and assisting with basic tasks that contribute to daily operations.

Workplace Hosts (White City, Medical Campuses and Silwood Park only)

In the White City, Medical and Silwood Park Operational Group, two Workplace Hosts support the specific requirements at MediaWorks, including welcome duties, visitor support and local administrative assistance.

Head of Continuous Improvement Works (CIWM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) Works Managers

They are critical to the delivery of the new model through streamlining of the Project Approval Meeting and a programmatic approach to works. They will oversee below-threshold minor works and continuous improvement activity, ensuring smaller interventions progress quickly and consistently. CI Works Managers will work closely with Property Facilities Mangers and Assistant Facilities Managers and support continuous improvement works and local improvement priorities.
