Dear colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that Professor Alice Gast, former 91ÌÒÉ« President and Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering, passed away on Monday evening following a long illness.  

I still remember, with gratitude, her generosity and wise counsel before I took the reins from her at 91ÌÒÉ«. I especially remember her passion and excitement for the White City Campus which is going from strength to strength and will forever form an important part of her legacy to 91ÌÒÉ«. Similarly, for the Cumbria Medical School – another groundbreaking initiative. These are, of course, just two of the many innovations she introduced but figured prominently in our transition conversations.
