Our work covers the range of characterizing immunological responses to malaria infections through to fundamental and applied research into prospective vaccines. Work in the MVI immunology reference laboratory work is primarily focused on providing a full range of immunological testing for vaccine trials working with the PATH-Malaria Vaccine Initiative and other partners. Novel assay development and validation is an important part of this work utilizing multiple high throughput technologies including multi parameter flow cytometry and serological multiplexing. Work in other groups is laying the foundations for defining new candidate vaccines for use in protecting against asexual infections or blocking onward parasite transmission through the mosquito.
