Overview

In today’s fast-changing business landscape, leaders face unprecedented challenges driven by AI transformation, climate change, and rising environmental and social expectations. This Sustainable Business course, Responsible Leadership in a Complex World programme will empower students with essential skills to navigate these complexities and make informed, intelligent decisions.

With powerful insights from 91ÌÒÉ«’s Centre for Responsible Leadership, this course interrogates the complicated relationship between profit, governance and ethical decision-making. Students will be challenged to analyse real-world cases, exploring the distinction between what is ‘right’ and what is most advantageous for an organisation and enterprise.

Students will be immersed in a dynamic learning environment, strengthened by a diverse range of opinions and individuals in the room. Students will be encouraged to draw upon their own lived experience and emotions to help them discover how their leadership must evolve to navigate modern challenges and drive change.

Learning journey

Pre-work (including psychometric assessments), a 5-day in-person course at 91ÌÒÉ«’s London Campus, plus a 90-minute reconnect webinar 2 months after the programme to support your continued learning and application.

Key principals & methodologies (by module):

  • Real-World Application: Workshops and case studies based on current global challenges, designed to support practical learning and real-world application.
  • Personalised Learning (module preparation): Pre-work assessments (self-surveys) for tailored development and study focus.
  • Expert Insights (module teaching): Leading thinkers and practitioners in AI, sustainability, Sustainable Development and emotional intelligence.
  • Interactive Learning (module activities): Group discussions, simulations, and action planning to ensure practical application of knowledge and to build confidence.

Responsibility

This module starts with a stage-setting exploration of what ‘responsible leadership’ means to us as leaders, and what it means in the context of the organisations we are part of, including Sustainable Business priorities. Through a combination of input from expert faculty and industry guests, and practical, hands-on experimentation, students end day one with a clear understanding of the tensions, dilemmas and compromises that help define what responsible leadership means, and how governance shapes decisions.
