Musicality is within us all and is soothing, comforting, motivating, and exciting. It is also a form of self-expression and key for cultural experiences and learning.

Music is a natural part of every child’s life. It can soothe and comfort, motivate and excite, and offers a powerful way for children to express themselves. Music also plays an important role in cultural learning, helping children connect with their own family traditions as well as those of others.

Guided by Friedrich Froebel’s ideas of unity and connectedness, we place the child at the centre of their learning. By valuing songs, music and rhymes from home and different cultures, we strengthen relationships between nursery, family and community, helping children feel secure, confident and included.

Music naturally encourages movement and physical activity. From an early age, babies build muscle strength, coordination and balance as they move to music, clap, bounce and explore rhythm through their bodies.

Listening to and making music also supports brain development. It helps children focus, tune in and develop aural processing skills, laying strong foundations for communication, language and future learning.
