Our work is organised around three main applications, from which we derive fundamental problems that help advancing our understanding of some basic physics and/or enabling new capabilities for next-generation solutions. Developing multidisciplinary analysis and optimization tools able to capture all the relevant interactions between flight dynamics, aerodynamics, structural dynamics and control.

Assessing aeroelastic effects in long flexible composite blades, and integrating active load control mechanisms that improve performance and increase fatigue life.

Aeromechanics of small compliant fliers

Developing high-fidelity computational methods to investigate the dynamics of small air vehicles and to optimize their design and closed-loop operation for enhanced aerodynamic performance
